Adventureland

Before I digress any further; I definitely recommend seeing this film.  It’s hard to imagine a demographic that won’t appreciate this movie (under 60 at least).

I was really excited to see this picture: love love love the cast, really like this type/style of film, and thought the plot sounded original(ish) and funny.  I had decided I would love this movie, but I didn’t – quite.

It was a little like watching a really good fireworks show that never quite reached the crescendo you were waiting for.  Every great movie has that moment at least once; and it isn’t necessarily at the very end.  Envision the kissing-in-garbage-bag-ponchos-in-the-rain scene in Garden State, or Peter Gabriel blaring from an outstretched boombox far below Ione Skye’s window   That’s the moment: the zenith, the pinnacle, the orgasm of the movie.  The rest is foreplay and cuddling.

From now on – and all that crap

One of the main reasons I started this blog was to provide a medium for me to publicly review movies without forcibly subjecting people  to my opinions; as is the case with Facebook and other public forums.

Many told me they appreciated the advice, but a few were equally annoyed by my inclusions.  So I’m moving them here.  Reviews may be of fresh off the press films, or just old movies I’ve never seen (or maybe just haven’t seen in a long time).  Either way please enjoy – but only if you want to.

And I am going to start that … now.

I think I like this quote

An adventure is only an inconvenience rightly considered. An inconvenience is an adventure wrongly considered.
- G.K. Chesterton

btw – I’d really like to be immortalized with a terrific quote some day.
